Michael Robinson has over 28 years of insurance experience focusing on commercial property & casualty insurance and brokerage management. He joined PBL Insurance in 1988 as a commercial insurance account executive and specialized in manufacturing, public entities and complex risks.
His clients have included the Canadian operations of two international car companies and a publicly traded telecom. He has been President of PBL Insurance Ltd. since 2007 and has led the brokerage through a period of significant growth, through selective acquisitions ,organic growth and strategic new hires. This has brought PBL to 230 employees and $200,000,000 in premium.
A seasoned brokerage executive, he serves on several insurance industry advisory boards. He is a Director of Canadian Broker Network (CBN) ,Canada’s leading network of independent commercially focused brokerages with $900,000,000 of insurance premium collectively. As part of his leadership role in CBN, he is also a Director of South Western Group (a leading Managing General Agency or MGA) and Bullfrog Insurance. Bullfrog is a fully digital insurance brokerage for small and micro business and one of the most innovative and exciting things in commercial insurance in Canada today.
Michael Robinson is deeply committed to service and giving back to the community. He served as a Director of the Windsor Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce from 1992 to 2003 including two terms as Chairman. Windsor as Canada’s busiest border crossing was deeply impacted by the events of 9 -11 so he co-chaired the Business Transportation Task Force which submitted a report on Border Issues to the Deputy Prime Minister in 2002. In 2003, he received the prestigious National Volunteer of the Year award from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He is a past Chairman of the Windsor Essex Community Foundation , Past President of the Windsor Club and a past Director of the Windsor Essex Development Corporation and the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation. He is the current Chair of the Scottish Borderers Foundation. He also served 26 years in Canada’s Army Reserve achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
